About Enrique

What is the first company you invested in?

Evident.io – the founder, Tim, was a true domain expert and when customers spoke to him they valued what he said.

What do you love about working for Bain Capital Ventures?

Every day I get to meet fabulous founders who want to change an industry or disrupt a market. Being around their enthusiasm just never gets old.

Do you have an investment ethos? Is there a portfolio company investment that exemplifies that ethos?

Look for great people and expect exceptional results. It sounds simple, but it’s actually a challenge to find brilliant and committed founders who also have the operational chops to deliver on their vision. Bhavin Shah, the founder of Moveworks is a perfect example of this combo. He is a three-time entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience building companies across consumer, mobile, and enterprise AI, and I knew from our first meeting that he had something special. BCV invested in Moveworks shortly after that meeting and I’ve been privileged to work alongside Bhavin as he grew Moveworks into a global success story.

What is compelling about your domain?

Infrastructure software is quite literally the backbone of every business in every sector. Whether security, AI, cloud, dev tools, open source, analytics, or beyond, enterprise software is in the background powering every business, making our world run every day. Today, every company is a software company, and it is endlessly exciting to invest in innovative software technologies because they are fundamental to our daily lives.

What are your interests and passions outside of BCV?

I love to ski and cycle. (I also like to find great places to eat out with friends.)

What advice would you give your younger self?

Worry less.

What is a self-care ritual you practice?

I like to ride my Peloton 4 or 5 times per week.
